For Your Information

To those visiting, we welcome you and extend our friendship, joy and prayers. We hope that you enjoy your worship experience with us.

Take Charge of your life! Do you have advanced directives? A living will? YOU should be in charge of your life-sustaining decisions. Plan now to attend this important informative session on Sabbath afternoon, May 15 at 3:00pm in the fellowship hall. You will not only receive information, but will have the opportunity to complete the forms and have them notarized. Save this date, May 15, 3:00pm. Call Marge Hay with questions, (614) 885-2993.

Sabbath, May 1, 2010 there is a Children's Ministry training opportunity at the Kettering SDA Church. From 10:30 to 11:30am all Sabbath School leaders & teachers are invited to come and observe Kettering's trained and experienced leaders as they conduct Sabbath School. There is a potluck lunch and then Eric Hamp will be speaking on helping your ministry become the best it can be. Eric is currently the Director of Children's Ministries at Word of Life Christian Center in Denver, CO. For more information contact Brendon Prutzman at 937-298-2167.

Do you know of a child who would like to attend Camp Mohaven this summer but is unable due to financial reasons? The Ohio Conference and Ohio churches have partnered together to provide the resources necessary  to send any child that desires the Camp Mohaven experience to camp. It's easy to apply, all you need to do is call Laura in the church office with the name of the potential camper and I'll take care of the rest. This has been limited to five campers per church so we will disperse these scholarships on a first come, first served basis.

Elder's Meeting – Please mark your calendar for Saturday, April 24 at 2:30 pm for another important Elder's meeting. These occasional meetings help clarify an elders duties and help with the communication process.

Have you been approached on Sabbath by someone begging for money? We are getting an increasing number of homeless/needy individuals who see the crowd on Sabbath mornings and enter our church looking for a handout, almost always cash. We STRONGLY recommend that you do the following: Let the individual know that the church doesn't have cash on hand but that one of our deacons is available to help. Then walk them to one of our deacons. Our deacons will take it from there. We STRONGLY discourage you from giving them cash. While your heart may want to help, your generosity only perpetuates the problem. It almost guarantees that they will return, often when there is only one or a few people at the church and when they are denied more cash, they become angry and occasionally the situation has become volatile. Just so you know, it is my policy to offer anyone who comes to us asking for assistance, the opportunity to select food items from our pantry and on occasion will provide them with gas cards that are kept on hand. I will also spend as much time as they need helping them contact social service agencies on their behalf. A list of our deacons is posted on both bulletin boards.

SSLC thanks all who donated their grocery bags for SSLC's use. They have enough now to last through the remainder of the year. They asked and YOU responded, again. Thank you for supporting this ministry.
